I'm just an everyday gal, who enjoys many things -- maybe too many for my own good. However, kitchen wasn't a place, besides meal time, that I would like to linger in my younger days before I got married & have my own home, and of course, my OWN kitchen -- that makes a whole lotta difference, doesn't it? I believe most if not all wives would be able to identify with me here. ;)
I've always enjoyed my older sisters' cooking & baking. They (all 3 of them!) can really cook & bake!! With just simple and basic ingredients, they can whip up something that, even now my mouth salivates just thinking of it. And they keep their kitchen immaculate -- suffice to say it's something I didn't grow up with!!! My brother-in-laws are VERY lucky men, and their children SUPERBLY blessed!
So they gave me hope -- we ARE from the same family! Hehe!
I only started cooking -- with my own initiative -- in my very early 20s. Lotsa trial & error, as I decided to teach myself by reading up recipe books (then I didn't have internet!!). Then I tried some baking too -- chocolate/banana cakes, local specialties, pizza, cheese cakes etc. But somehow, I didn't really get into it, as I wasn't entirely myself in my mom's kitchen. My parents both can cook! But each to his/her own.
Honestly, I really do wish I've started cooking and baking many years earlier like how I do now. I must say that, the power of inspiration cannot be overstated. I was inspired by my sisters mostly, and also by all the cooking/baking TV shows. Then with the help of my love/passion for food, I decided to give my best in these areas before I get too old for them!
My dearest youngest sister,
ReplyDeleteYour creations are simply LOVELY and YUMMY ! You should have started cooking and baking while we were all living under one roof so that I could enjoy your hidden talents then. Hmmm...must be intentional...to escape house chores ! Hehe...Not too late ! Make sure you whip something up for us whenever we visit. So far, we have tried your pizzas and cupcakes. Delicious ! We want repeats ! Looking forward to your 'Low Shi Fun' soon.
God Bless you, Jeremy, your cute doggies and BitesNSlices !

Hi hi hi to my precious Lee Angels!:D
DeleteWell...working in one's own kitchen & with all the privacy make a whole lotta difference for me! Hehe! I can't cook or bake while someone look on -- my hands will shake! Just the same with stage fright when I perform music...this is kitchen fright!
Yes, REPEATS you will surely get, and Low Shi Fun too!
Thank you for always being there to inspire & spur me on!
With Loads of Love Back to y'all,
Hui
Have tasted your cupcakes during our school reunion recently and I must say that every bite was simply delicious and beautiful to look at. For sure, your cupcakes are gems among the other commercial bakeries.
ReplyDeleteI wish you every success. btw, if we want to visit your place, is there a landmark nearby?
Thanks and All the Best,
Philo Yan

Hi Philo!
DeleteThank you for your kind words! Actually I bake to order from home, as I do not own a storefront.
Was glad that my baking could be part of the very 'happening' reunion you feisty gals had there!
Take care & have a good day!
