The Aroma of Home-Baking...mmm...

These breads were specially 'ordered' by my hubby, for his special diet thingy. Though requires much more effort & time,  hand-kneaded & oven-baked breads are still the best to my personal opinion -- I guess my love for handling dough & seeing them rise in the oven make me biased as well. My first experience of baking bread was like most others': using bread machine. But mine wasn't one of those high-end brands, but an unheard one -- probably why they were barely sweet experiences: rock-hard loaves that could kill someone if I knock their heads with it. And my hubby didn't see it worthwhile to invest in a better machine. Ergo!!! My Hands!!!...are now our bread machine..hehehhe..until I'm too old to use them...coz it IS a muscle-required activity!

Tried baking a new flavor for cupcakes: Hazelnut Cupcakes with Hazelnut Buttercream Frosting. Here are the results:

A Very Good Day

1st order for BB Hummingbird Cupcakes (Thx, Chris!)

 Today I woke up with anticipation -- my dearest 'tai mooi' (1st younger sis in cantonese) has arrived from NZ. And the last time I saw her was Feb 2010. Really missed her and having her in my kitchen today seemed surreal....

The 2nd thing that I was looking forward to was baking these little baby birdies for Chris, as the first order for these not-too-tiny bites of yummms!

These 72 babies were made for a very dear young friend on her 28th birthday cum farewell -- she'll be leaving for Melbourne in about a week's time. Will miss her :( loads. It was great fun making them -- always thought the minis are so very cute & adorable! It's more fun to bake them, and surely more fun to eat them - no longer having to share with someone when you don't feel like having a whole standard sized cuppy. Then again, you'd find yourself gobbling down a few these little jewels which at the end would come to the same weight as -- or more than -- a whole standard cuppy! Hohoho!!
